Both Google and Apple are selling high-end smartphones to lots of people in the US. But they take a very different marketing approach. Just compare the ads for their most up to date phones.
As they've done before, Apple is focused on humanizing the technology within the iPhone. You can see this in the iPhone 4S commercial below and in earlier iPhone 4 commercials.
Google is a lot more focused on the cool factor of the technology itself. Like in earlier commercials for the Motorola Droid, they celebrate the mechanics of their device.
