| UIUC Dept. of Computer
Science Web Design
Completed: April 2001
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois required
a redesign of their existing web presence in order to reflect the changes
taking place in the department. The web presence needed to reflect the
department's position as an innovator in the areas of technology and
education. In addition, a large amount of new content was to be added
to the existing site. This, coupled with the fact that the organization
and navigation systems of the current site were problematic, mandated
a complete redesign, which included a rethinking of the information
architecture of the site.
LukeW solution:
A professional appearance, futuristic typefaces and some DHTML technology
contributed to the forward-looking "feel" of the site redesign.
The navigation categories were developed for specific user needs and
designed to accommodate a wide range of tasks. LukeW Interface Designs
presented a series of templates as the final deliverable for this large
site. The templates work with server side includes and style sheets
to maintain a cohesive look and navigation for the site. This templating
system was incorporated in Microsoft FrontPage 2000, so a number of
the department staff could add content and build the site on their own
schedule.
Services Provided:
Project Definition,
Information Organization,
Visual Design, and Front-end
Development.
