| Concept Mapping Interface
Completed: March 2002
Concept mapping is the process by which large amounts of collective
input are categorized and sorted into logical groupings. The process
is beneficial to both large and small groups because it visualizes the
problems/solutions generated by individual and group brainstorming.
When the overarching themes are presented in logical groupings, participants
gain a better understanding of the issues they face. The process also
brings group differences to light. Such data can serve as a common point
from which accord may be reached.
LukeW solution:
These diagrams are a visual representation of the process groups go
through in an automatic concept mapping environment. Several factors
are depicted within the diagram including input hierarchies (stemming
from expertise or rank), mapping evaluations (selecting the optimal
groupings), and concept ranking.
