NCSA Explains the
Grid
Completed: December 2002
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is creating
"the grid", which will connect the world's most advanced technology
in ways that were previously unimaginable. This grid of supercomputers,
visualization displays, data storage systems, sensors, and instruments
will be connected by the fastest networks available. Newly developed
middleware will make using these tools as easy as flipping on a light
switch.
LukeW solution:
The "NCSA Explains the Grid" (NETG) interface presents grid
technology as an approachable and fun series of non-linear interactions.
The iconic representation provides a macro understanding of the the
different grid components, while the text delivers micro information:
likely scenarios and technical details. All the text within this interface
is dynamically pulled from an stand-alone XML file, making editing quick
and easy.
Services Provided:
Project Definition,
Workflow Analysis,
Visual Design, and Front-end
Development.
