Icon Semiotics: The Alert Icon

As part of our continuing efforts to develop effective icon semiotics I’ve put together some visual representations for “alerts”. Alerting users to status or information changes is a common requirement of Web-based applications (often involving a form of messaging). The following symbols can be used to call attention to areas of an interface that require user action.
